Our SU Lacrosse Family

Thanks to you Jessica – you’ve set a new standard for communicating we will find tough to live up to. Thanks to you and Team Lane for a great year.

We lost to a very, very good team yesterday. Kudos to the Terps – they are really solid. Yeah, we got beat, but there was so much HHH yesterday all over the field.

A big shout out to Sergio – we’re down by 5, he’s stuck on defense, and making his man’s life misery with brutal checks. Brandon played a typical Brandon game – forcing turnovers, picking up ground balls – we will miss him more than we can say. Jay McDermott – never any recognition for a stalwart, steady, and very smart defenseman. DeJoe forcing his way onto the field with his rocket shot and inside game. Grimm doing everything right from forcing his guy wide to representing Syracuse Lacrosse to running the box while taking a couple games off. Dylan being Dylan. Champions are made when no one is looking – and DD is – by any measure – a champion. Tim Barber – aka shake and bake – playing anywhere and everywhere and making us wish we’d had him for four years. Ralph coming home to Cuse and doing whatever he needed to do to contribute. Bobby Tait – always there, always ready, always smiling and working. Austin Wentworth – rarely on the field, but totally, fully, absolutely committed to the team. Nick Piroli – damn it, damn it, damn it! Can you please figure out how you can don the Orange just one more time! We never got to see just what a player you are – but we do know we will be very proud to claim you as an alum.

During the season, Warren showed us how to handle a very tough situation with grace and dignity. I just love the guy.

It’s been a wonderful four years. We have met and made great friends, and will treasure the memories (well, except for the Notre Dame game).

Deb and I pulled an “Irish GoodBye” yesterday because we just didn’t want to say goodbye. If you didn’t meet them, several alumni parents were there – Hamlins and Pratts among them. DeJoe – bring your tribe next year – I need a jello shot!

Make no mistake, Syracuse Lacrosse is special and unique.

A classmate of Deb’s from high school who played defense for Yale back in the pre-electricity days – came to the game. A fraternity brother of mine brought his daughter. A high school summer sailing buddy of Deb’s who is an ardent Brown fan came to cheer on our guys. A kid Cal coached years ago brought his entire family to see the game. A guy I met on a plane – from South Carolina no less – came with his son, who said this is what he wanted for his birthday.

That just doesn’t happen at other places.

Finally, thanks to the parents, coaches and players. You exude class and cool. Other fans can be total (insert anatomical term), but you stay above that. Yes, we call out knuckleheads, but we do so with maturity. Let the other people be (repeat anatomical term),

WE ARE SU!

2017 starts tomorrow!

We are Foxboro Bound!

Hi Everyone,

I know we are all dealing with the sadness of yesterday’s loss and it’s certainly not the result we had envisioned, heck, this isn’t the email I thought I’d be sending today either, but for whatever reason, it was not meant to be. I’ve been reading a lot of fabulous Facebook posts today about your sons and what the SU Lacrosse family means to you and your families. It has been a day of mixed emotions- happiness, reading about the accomplishments and generosity of so many of the boys and at the same time, sadness, because our time together has ended too soon.

Like all of you, your sons are truly amazing and special! They have persevered through the ups and downs they were faced with this season and came out of it all stronger and better, not only as a team but as individuals. You and the boys all have a lot to be proud of. As Joe Paduda said earlier this year, Syracuse is a special place, a special program, and an opportunity very few families get to experience. Unlike many other D1 sports, the parents and families of the players are as much a team as the guys themselves. We cheer together, moan together, tailgate together, and cook & clean up together, but we are always together. While our season may have ended yesterday, we still have great memories, wonderful friends, a very proud tradition, and terrific young men who will go on to do great things.

There are so many people that have been a tremendous help throughout the season that I can’t even begin to thank you all for what you have done.

Thank you to Steve DeJoe for staying on top of our Lacrosse Apparel supplier, and for offering us such amazing SU Lax Apparel! We were definitely the best dressed parents and families in the stands!

Thank you to the Grimm’s, DeMarco’s, and Firman’s for bringing and marinating our grill items for our tailgates. We have certainly showed what true tailgate masters we are!

Thank you to Wendi Evans for keeping us on track financially. Without your efforts Wendi, we would never have been able to do all for the boys that we did.

Thank you to Joe Paduda for leading us on in the stands with our cheer! We are, and always will be, the loudest and rowdiest parents sections!

Thank you to Roy for taking care of the boys and for always relaying the necessary information to me.

Thank you to all of the coaching staff, managers, Theresa, Dave, George, Troy, and Muscle Matt for making Syracuse the boys’ “home away from home.”

Senior Parents, thank you all so much for the great times and memories. You and your sons have left a lasting impression on all of our lives.

And finally, a HUGE thank you to all of the parents and families of the boys. It has been an honor and a privilege to get to know you all. It’s no wonder that your sons are the tremendous young men that they are! Thank you for all of your help at the tailgates, setting up, moving grills, tables, tailgating supplies, breaking everything down, and cleaning up. We could not have done it without you!!

Before you know it, Alumni Weekend will be here.

Brown Stadium Lot A – LIMITED PARKING PASSES AVAILABLE FOR QUARTERFINALS

Hi Jessica,

I was able to purchase a parking pass. I selected to pick it up at Will Call. As best I can tell, Will Call for parking passes is Saturday morning outside the main entrance of Meehan Auditorium, 235 Hope Street. Lori

Tailgating at Brown

Hi Everyone,

Below are tailgating updates- as soon as I receive more information from Brown, I will be sending another email.

1) We will be having our traditional post-game tailgate in the Marvel Field Lot, which is located across the street from parking Lot A. I am waiting for our specific location from Brown University, as we did have to rent a space & tent through them. We will balloons and a Syracuse banner hanging on our tent, making it easy to identify.

2) We are asking everyone to please sign up to help with one of the following: setting up for the tailgate, grilling, and cleaning up afterwards so Dave & George can start their drive back to Cuse late that afternoon.

3) We are also asking every family to sign up to bring a salad, a side dish, or a dessert. Coolers can be stored at our tent on Marvel Field during the game, or in your cars in Lot A. If you do not have a parking pass for Lot A, and would like to store your cooler there, Buddy and Eileen DeMarco have offered to keep items in the back of their pick-up truck for us.

4) Please sign up on Sign-Up Genius for the tailgate by visiting, www.SignUpGenius.com/go/30E0A4AADAA2D6-ncaa1. RSVP’s can be emailed to me- we need to make sure we purchase enough hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken.

5) I did receive an email from one of my Brown contacts that we can tailgate in the Marvel Field before the game as well. Please reply to this email with your tailgating preference for before the game. If we end up in Lot A, we will just need to make sure a group of cars enters at the same time and parks together.

WE ARE……….………SU!!!!
